Die forging method for forged threaded stainless steel cross
1. Die forging
The shape of small-size pipe fittings such as tee, forged threaded stainless steel cross and elbow with socket welding and thread is relatively complex, so it should be manufactured by die forging process.
The blank used for die forging shall be rolled sections such as bars, thick walled tubes or plates. When using ingot as raw material, the ingot should be rolled into bar in advance or used as die forging blank after forging, so as to eliminate the defects such as segregation and porosity in ingot.
After being heated, the blank is put into the die for forging, and the pressure makes the metal flow and fill the die cavity; if there is flash in the blank after die forging, the process of punching off the remaining flash material is required to complete all the die forging work.
2. Free forging
The pipe fittings with special shape or those not suitable for die forging can be manufactured by free forging process. The general shape of the forged threaded stainless steel cross should be forged out by free forging; for example, the branch pipe should be forged out for the tee.
3. Cutting
For some tubular pipe fittings, such as forged threaded stainless steel cross, it can be directly machined by bar or thick wall pipe. During processing, the fiber flow direction of metal materials should be roughly parallel to the axial direction of pipe fittings. For tee, cross, elbow and pipe fittings, it is not allowed to use bar direct cutting forming.
